hi all, when i select a song to play from an album,
in MQ3, i used to see the album fanart in the background.

but in MQ4, the screen remains the default blue'ish mq4 background.....

1. go to MUSIC
2. select an ALBUM
3. play a SONG
4. album box art appears but not the album fanart in the background

That's wierd. It's not a bug I've seen reported before. Are you running MQ4 2.9?

im on the latest XBMC 12 and latest MQ4 version.

all installed freshly from scratch!

So definitely 2.9? Is it only in visualization mode that you have no fanart?

not at all, like i said, if u do this

1. go to MUSIC section
2. select an ALBUM to listen
3. play a SONG from it

from there, album box art appears as usual but not the album fanart in the background...

Sorry I'm a little confused. The photo on your post above is of the visualization screen which will appear when you press the Tab key.

If I play a song on my system without pressing the tab key, then it will just stay on the same album track listing screen.

Which screen are you not getting any fanart on? Could you upload a screen print at all?

your right thats the visualization screen, and dont see my album fanart there.

and i also dont see the album fanart when music plays at the same album track listing screen.

Ok so nothing shows on the visualization screen or the track listing screen when you play a track. Does any fanart show on the track listing menu when you aren't playing a song? In other words does it only go away when a track is being played?

I'm also not getting fanart when I play any album. With MQ3, if for example, I played alanis morissette, as soon as I click on her song, her image would appear, this doesn't happen with MQ4.
However, if I tab out whilst song is playing, I then get fanart. Is this an Eden problem?

Sorry guys, I'm still trying to get my head around the problem is.

You have artist fanart showing at every screen, but when you play a track it disappears?

JJ, frodo is definetly the way forward, but eskro seems to be having the same issue and he's running Frodo.

i recall posting threads about this issue all the way back to MQ2
but its been tossed away and no one would care to help...

it seems we get different behaviors...
i'll try to re-explain mine

im experiencing 2 issues so far, actually 3...

#1) on the track listing screen of an album, i dont see the artist fanart in background
when i navigate to decide which song i want to hear....

and when i decided which track i want, i hit ENTER to actually play it,
but again, song plays, but no fanart appearing in background of track listing screen....

#2) from there, again, song is playing, hit TAB, goes to visualization screen,
and again, album fanart dont appear in background....
and note that i turned off visualization from AUDIO SETTINGS.
but even if i turn it on, same issue... actually, the visualization doesnt even play, milkdrop or what ever its called....

Ok i found part of the answer and its worth to know what was going on.

about the fanart not appearing in background when navigating through the track listing of an album,
well, appears the error was in my folder structure....

as before it was structured like this

which didn't fix the issue obviously

and now its structured this way

which now makes the fanart appear in background!!
also makes fanart appears when in visualization screen (when pressing tab key)!

extrafanart folder is there like shown in my folder structure!

Ok number three should be easy to sort out. You need to instal the artist slide show add-on for Frodo. Then just make sure this is set to show (which it looks like it should already be from your screen shot) in the 'playback' settings on the home screens bottom menu and you should be good to go.

eskro - curious - what did you use to get the logo, cdart, fanart and folder files? was this all manual or an add-on?

I use mediamonkey to sort/organize all my music.

quick question, again

about the artist sideshow addon, where does it download the images on my hard drive by default??

and also, once they are downloaded, example for the artist named BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE,
does it keep re-downloading them off of the internet costing me bandwidth each time
or once they are on my hard drive, thats it, no more internet needed for that artist?
