Blank XBMC icon in ATV homescreen after quitting XBMC
#1
As you know, with the latest 5.2.1 Apple tv version release, apple sent to limbo to many users that hadn't jailbroken their Apple TV 2. Users that were in an older version could still jailbreak or downgrade with their saved blobs using iFaith/sn0wbreeze method though. Well, this was the case with almost every ATV version but 5.1.1. Sn0wbreeze creator was warned about this issue and he released a fix to his jb tool just yesterday. Now, some users are reporting having some issues with XBMC icon on Apple TV after quitting XBMC. I know that this forum has very specific rules about jailbraking discussions, but I thought this was a XBMC related issue and not a exactly a jailbreak one.

The question would be: Is this a known issue, or could this be related to the jb tool?

I have a 'new' Apple TV 2 with fw 5.1.1 iOS 6.0.1 that just recieved this past weekend, so I'm going to try to jb today and post my results about this matter here.

Here's the link to the thread in firecore forums: http://forum.firecore.com/topic/10087?pa...ment-60466

Thanks!

Oh wow, I didn't realize Apple pushed out another update that wasn't jailbreakable. Thanks for this info, too.

when icon is there normally and missing after quitting xbmc its definitly not an xbmc issue. The fact that the icon is shown isn't even related to any xbmc code. Its just the xbmc icon put into the right place on th atv2 (didn't read the linked thread though - to late here already).

I found a fix for the icon at least. Still not sure what's causing it. Posted my quick fix on http://forum.firecore.com/topic/10087?page=6

you'll need to use ssh and command line to correct it but it's quick.
