New Mobo and CPU [Unraid]
#1
I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard and CPU around $200 range with ram included
I was looking at this mobo with this cpu and ram

ASRock B75 Pro3-M

Intel Pentium G860

G.SKILL 8GB (4GBx2)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820231314

Total = $202

I currently have 11 drives running on old hardware from 2006 with 4gb ddr2 memory
I think it's time for an upgrade and want to be safe about it. Server runs 24/7

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Looks good!

For both the processor and the RAM, I would think about if you really need that much. For the processor:

A G530, G540 and G550 should be really cheap (I bought a G540 for 35€) and still provide the necessary. There's also the newser Ivy Bridge Celeron:

If you really want to have a bit more, you could consider the Pentium G2020, also Ivy Bridge: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819116886

Note that the Ivy Bridget processors should be a little more power efficient and cooler also!

For RAM, I'd say 4Gb is more that enough, and IMO, you don't need high performance ones.

Anyway, what you've posted looks good!

I would like to agree with PatrickVogeli.
I have rebuild my HTPC few weeks ago because my MoBo on E350 breaked down.

My new HTPC is Celeron 1610 + Gigabyte Mobo on H77 (because of it has RAID support instead of B75) + 4Gb RAM + OCZ SSD 60GB + 2HDD.
I have tried Celeron's integrated graphics and have no lags in video at all (in general it is different kinds of 720p/1080p rips from torrents).

The only issue that I notice is no audio in rips with DTS-HD audio format but it is possible that the issue in not related to HDMI in integrated video.

4Gb ram is enought for XBMC and uTorrent in backgound with no pagefile in Windows 8.
