I'm also looking to know what version of Linux is on there and if I would be able to load my VPN client on there? Are you able to drop down from XBMC to the OS in order to install the VPN client or log into the client and use a web browser?

Thanks

I hope they implement HD/lossless support. I suspect it may be a driver issue/codec/licensing issue.

This makes me wonder -- if it's just HD audio passthrough most everyone wants why is it so hard? (Not saying it shouldn't be hard this is an honest question).

It is confirmed that the box doesn't have the license even for passthrough and never be available on this one.

A license is not required for passthrough. Only decoding needs a license. Passthrough is equivalent to copying the video file over to your AVR.

Check out this tlbb thread. which claims license is required even for passthrough.

Okay, but a license is still not required for passthrough. They can say whatever they want, and that will still be true.

It's fairly amazing to me how many people have fallen for the HD audio marketing scam. Still waiting on a double blind treat where people can actually tell the difference.

ordered mine on monday from amazon germany, got it on tuesday.
initial problems:
remote did only connect with the device after standing in front of it and holding 1 and 9 button,
firmware update only did work with usb-stick inserted.

now it's working fine, i've streamed some 1080p mkv-files with dts-sound (no frame drops) from a 1,5 tb hdd connected via usb and various online-streams.
i also tried different skins, the included tlbb-version of bello works nice, aeon nox and metropolis also work, the fastest one is quartz.

i can recommend it.

I know it's quite shocking but there are a lot of us with really good audio systems where the difference between even DTS and DTS-MA is apparent. I'll take the Pepsi challenge any time you'd like to do it.
