where do I put the bluray addon?
#1
Hi,

I have built and installed makemkv and am ready to install the bluray addon. I have downloaded it to a usb flash drive but it fails the install from zip. The error message is wrong file structure.

I can get in to linux and look around but pcmanfm doesn't seem to search.

So, where do I put the addon to install manually? I do not know what ~/ means. I need the full path.

Thanks.

~ means /home/username.

Actually ~ means the users home directory which is defined in /etc/passwd. For a normal system user it is usually /home/username. For some system users it is elsewhere. But I digress...

Which plugin are you trying to install and what file did you download?

If I am downloading a zip file addon I usually put it in the Downloads directory in my home directory (which can be referred to as ~/Downloads or /home/nick/Downloads)

When I want to install it in XBMC I navigate to Home Directory then Downloads then select the file.

I am using http://www.bultsblog.com/BluRay-plugin-v01a.zip

I have found home/steven/.xbmc/addons

There is no video folder in addons. The youtube and TED addons are in

home/steven/.xbmc/addons

and they work. I moved the zip to /home/steven/Downloads and it won't install from zip. The error message is wrong file structure. Unzipping the folder to home/steven/.xbmc/addons does not result in XBMC seeing the bluray addon.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Is this the makemkv addon? If so I think that is a very old version that will not be compatible with a newer xbmc. Try here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...emkv+addon

That thread lists this.

I interpreted this to be a plugin to install makemkv, not an addon to work with makemkv.

However I might be wrong.

Ah, very good.

I have played a Bluray. It has some horizontal tearing but I assume some experimenting with the video setting will sort that. The HP N40L with ASUS 6450 should be plenty for Bluray playback.
