Thanks man. Interesting you used pin 2 and not pin 9. Is that because pin 9 does not have continuous power when the unit is off?

Pass. 'twas what was tried and tested in the NUC thread. They tried it in all the other ones and found that you'd get random power on's/off's and reboots.

Works perfectly. Would do it to my old Revo if I could be bothered lol.

You should try putting a few of these in front of those IR holes.

The little circular ones would be perfect.

Nice work, by the way.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I just now got the Simerec hooked up after purchasing it 3 months ago (got too busy). I'm using a Logitech 1100 for my remote and was wondering which device should I set up in the remote to power the nuc off and on? During the install process I also noted that I too am missing the internal USB pins however I'm using a Bluetooth keyboard so it won't be an issue for me...

Get intel to replace it bud. Cost nothing to do that. They pay for everything.

Just go on the intel support forum and one of them will sort you out.

With regard to remote. Mines on the MCE one set in my harmony 300s. But you can set any button for it.

You know, that's not a bad idea. I may go ahead and do that. In the meantime, I'll try and get this up and going today. Thanks again for all of your continued help. Always appreciated.

(Edit) went ahead and emailed them today. Thought more about it and I thing I may want to go the IR route for control as well.

My remote is setup with MCE as one of the devices. When you go to setup on/off you press the red button on simerec and press th button on the remote you want to associate with switching on.

You can associate any remote command with it.

Lightdims over front USB port.
