Android Disabling mouse curser under Android - not possible?
#1
Hi All,

Using one of these 'air mice' that are so frequently shipped with Android set top boxes is becoming a bit of a pain.

Under windows XBMC I was used to using just a 'dumb' IR remote which sent key presses. On the air mice they have a Gyroscope inside which acts like a Wiimote for moving the curser, this is great in the underlying OS for selecting things from your couch etc but under XBMC it just becomes an absolute pain.

Under windows this was easy as we could use the noop option in mouse.xml or just disable mouse usage under input devices in Settings. Under Android it appears that both of them settings have absolutely no bearing over displaying the pointer. The pointer is the same as the underlying Android one (i.e. it's green and not the 'skin' pointer) so I believe that this might be something native that Android overides.

So my question to all the clever people out there is is it possible to disable this? Otherwise these air mice are just absolutely useless as they flick around across the screen when watching movies - which is not the XBMC way of enjoying media!

Thanks!

Guessing we need to wait for Google to add this functionality in then. How odd...
