Everytime i watch a movie on my computer its all fine when i plug in my hdmi i get video on my tv but no sound? Please help

Is this a windows PC?
On mine (running Win8 but may be similar in others) I right click on the volume control in the system tray and click playback devices then select the one I want my audio to come from.
For the TV I select Digital Audio (HDMI)

Are you plugging in the HDMI lead before starting XBMC? if not then that's your problem as XBMC checks the available devices on startup, so without the HDMI connection already made the HDMI device does not show as available.
