Solved Video playback slow and no sound
#1
I am using window xp
When I play videos, there is no sound and is really slow.
I turned on the debug log and on the screen, it said the CPU usuage is around 3% when playing video.
I read others thread and think it probably got something to do with the audio setup.

I tried the suggestions, but since it is xp, the setting is a bit difference.
I've attached the log file and screen prt of audio setting.
I am using the Xonar DGaudio for output

Try setting Speaker Configuration to 2.0 as according to the log that's all the soundcard is capable of.

JUst tried that with no avail.
I saw another post with this instruction.

I will try that too

I noticed that I cannot set the sound output to directsound in xbmc. That option is missing. Is it normal?

I uninstalled xbmc and install agian, but this time, without using xbmcgub wizard.
There is sound, but with poor quality. Weird

What do you mean by poor quality?

Does lowering audio hardware acceleration in Windows make any difference?

Another debug log with Speaker Configuration set to 2.0 might be helpful.

I did not tried lowering audio hardware acceleration. I will try that night and make some new debug log.
Would it be possible that winxp is not too compatible with xbmc?
By the way, how do I add attachment?
Do I have to upload to my own server for the files?

For the log use a pastebin site such as http://xbmclogs.com or http://pastebin.com

XP drivers do seem to be a pain in the ass since v12 Frodo was released.

As a heads up I should point out that Frodo is the last release that will be compatible with XP, the next release of XBMC v13 Gotham will have Vista as it's minimum Windows OS requirement, this for a variety of reason such as XP support being dropped by Microsoft next year, and supporting XP, Vista, 7 & 8 is too big a burden for our volunteer dev's.

This one is with the sound hardware acceleration set to none.
The video become choppy after I did that.

I understand about xp. I gues my computer is too old for window 7 though.

I didn't notice before, but I now see you're using an addon to stream from file hosting sites, I'm afraid that's unsupported here as discussion of such piracy addons is forbidden on these forums.

I can only help if you have any sound issues with local files or files from streaming from a server or NAS on your local network.

I see. Ok. I will do a fresh install of the xbmc.
And redo the log.

Great Smile it's unfortunate that in a lot of cases the XP drivers for soundcards don't seem to play nice with the newer versions of XBMC.
