Win Lock up on certain video files in vers 11/12/13
#1
Hi folks,
Ive been having this problem for over a year and my only solution was to roll back to XBMC 10. Ive rebuilt my machine with a new mobo/cpu and reinstalled windows as of yesterday so I thought Id try the current XBMC version on this new "vanilla" windows 7 pro x64 install to see if it would work again. Unfortunately it hasnt.

Basically, certain video files cause XBMC to lock up (and lock up the entire machine, I have to hard reset to get out of it). Ive tried XBMC 11, 12, 12.2, and the beta 13 and they all have this problem for me. XBMC 10, however, does not. I use 2 files as my testers for reproducing this problem. Star Trek DS9 S01E01 works fine. Eureka S01E01 locks up XBMC with no video, although I get a brief (3 or 4 seconds) burst of the initial audio from it. Once it is locked CTRL+Alt+Del and/or anything else doesnt work and I have to hard reset the machine. Ive included MediaInfo information on both files in the hopes that someone can spot a problem.
Cheers,
Shadak

Here's another one. Same deal different file. Open file through XBMC, "Working" appears in XBMC bottom corner, XBMC freezes, 4-5 seconds of audio from file then that cuts out too, hard reset on machine needed.

"Eden seems intolerant of old GPUs. It crashes even with series 6 NVIDIA cards, so I'm not surprised it gives problems with a GeForce2 MX. I know someone was looking at this, but I can't remember how far they got."

Was this addressed in Frodo/Gotham? Or is my older 3850 card falling afoul of this? If so, Ill just have to roll back to ver 10 and lose the newer functionality, mostly the ability to use an Android device as a remote (which I dont think I can do with a ver 10 XBMC these days?)
