Cant download add-ons
#1
Hi Guys,

can ping mirrors.xbmc.org
dns is set to 8.8.8.8 (removed unblock-us dns as possible cause)
weather in xbmc works fine, RSS feeds look to come through
I have cleared all filters etc off by router/gateway.
system network info show internet as "busy"

yet when i attempt to get/download an add-on it sits at 0% and does not progress? tried this with a number of different add-ons (eg Hulu bETA, TED Talks)

Ideas on what to look for would be appreciated.

Thanks - Matthew.

Hmm, has this been happening for more than a day? Sometimes a specific mirror server might have temp issues, but that normally would fix itself with a few more tries of downloading an add-on.

Addons15.db is faulty. Remove it and reboot

Turn on Debug Log ging and grab another one where you try and install an add-on. No errors in that log related to add-ons that I can see.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.

Let's wait for a Debug Log from the user. It seems odd that there's no error log lines there.

@Matthew can you upload the addons15.db some where so we can download it? Dropbox or googledrive or something similar.
So we can have a look what is wrong with it. You can safely remove it after and restart xbmc

See our wiki where to find it: userdata (wiki)

thank you

@ Martijin,

moved the file aside and rebooted, no luck downloads still sit at 0%

but here is what is strange:

reboot/restart xbmc
refresh of weather works fine (i.e we are talking to the net)
request add-on to download - it then does not get past 0%
go back to weather, it fails to refresh (i.e it can no longer talk to the net)

This is weird, hope this is useful, thanks for your help.

Matthew.

@ Martijin,

Did the debug log I posted reveal anything which might be the cause?

@ anyone,

Any ideas on what may be causing this problem?

Thanks for your help, Matthew.
