So ... one of the things I would really like XMBC for windows to have is a "Preferred Power Plan" option.
Basically this would list the power plans available to the OS and let you set one as active when XBMC is running.
I would really like this ... usage scenario: my HTPC is a pretty silent setup .. but sometimes Windows decides to do a quick task in the background ... this raises the cpu usage a bit and the fan kicks in to a higher speed for a while ... sometimes just a few seconds - but it has also lasted for a whole bunch of minutes. After some tinkering I realised that by creating a new power plan in windows power options that 'only' allowed 85% max cpu, the fan is ALWAYS silent.
This is a great solution for me as 85% of a quad core is still way more cpu that I ever need for XBMC; but it also means swapping power plans when I want to run something like Steam (big screen mode) ... hence my suggestion.
Cheers!
