Looks fine to me.

"Can I also add that the AML MX boxes I have (2) all have better color on the TV. I think RockChip is using a crappy HDMI implementation with low color count where AML is not. The difference in color output is quite noticeable!

Bob"

It has been said by Finless who is one of the leading android box custom firmware producer. So, it should be credible.

No offense to Finless, but even with the amount of firmware he has put out and the amount of boxes he's used, that's still very anecdotal evidence. Making custom firmware doesn't make someone an expert, as most of the work is just pulling together different stuff that different people have done, which may or may not even increase performance on a given device. It's nice to have someone to apply various patches so I don't have to, and to even test it on a lot of hardware that they happen to have, but it's not really a science.

He is comparing it to the Amlogic MX chipset, which I don't have, so maybe it really is noticeable when you compare them side by side. I can compare my RK3188 stick with some other ARM hardware and even some PC-based hardware, and I don't really see a PQ issue.

I don't know who the hell is Finless but this is just a pile of BS.

I've got more than a few Amlogic based devices and with all due respect they don't know how to do their job.
The main ip core they had to design is the vpu and few years past from their first 8726-M SoC and still the deinterlacer is buggy and the vpu can't handle high bitrate files on the dual core 8726-M6/MX in Android 4.2.2 and kernel 3.0.50.

I give Finless credit for getting my UG802 working with a rom ported from another stick. Especially when Ugoos were taking their sweet time to patch audio sink issue they had early on. But it wasn't until 2Dark4u made his custom rom with multiple overclock kernels that it really started to become a decent option. Course i had glue a heatsink from a old satellite receiver to it. But it works great for xbmc with streamed videos. High bitrate HD files like my movies and wmc .wtv files from NAS still play choppy. Although they play fairly well with Archos Video Player, with noticeable dropped frames. Netflix doesn't work that well either, doesn't kick in to full HD. It may be a network issue because have to use a usb to ethernet adapter, wifi is terrible on it. I get an average of 17mb, when testing it with speedtest.net

Transmort is coming out with the Vega S89 with Amlogic S802 2ghz quad-core processer. Literally a hockey puck.

I would recommend the MyGica ATV520 or the MyGica ATV1200. The have XBMC 12.2 installed on it out of the box and it runs very well! Both 720 as 1080HD no issues at all. Only thing is it can happen
that the fast-menu items under the main menu disappear, just need to put them back than (Android issue i think).
You can look for the MyGica Android Smart Tv ATV1200 here
and the MyGica Android Smart Tv ATV520 here.

According to iboum.com the atv1800 will be out in March. Supposed to support 4K. And based on Amlogic S802 @ 2Ghz Quad Core and Mali450 Octa core. If it does 4K you know it should be able to do 1080 well, fingers and toes crossed.Big Grin

I'm considering the MyGica ATV580. Anybody have experience with one of these. What potential does it have? Can it be flashed with Linux? What are its limitations ?

Hi,
Im new here and german,so sry about my worst english sometimes.
I`ve buyed the Mele 1000G Quad(A31),but the Fw has still bugs.I`m unable to run any PVR Addon with VidOnMe Xbmc,Script error....
The box has a good hardware, but the lack of BT is a great disadvantage for gaming pads. The F10 Pro Mele Remote Control is a good compensation for it,but a bit expensive.RaspberryPi has a weak Hardware but good Software and its cheap, but cubietruck is much better I`ve heard.
The best Androidbox is the new MadCatz M.O.J.O. I think, but it cost 200 bucks.BT,good gamepad inclusive,USB 3.0 and nice Nvidea Tegra graphic.
Allwinner has also a new chip created, the A80 with Octacore,so New boxes will come.

Hi all,

I'm brand new to all this. I'm currently running xbmc through an old netbook and I'm looking for an android box now.

Minix x5 & x7, or the mini versions, or a ddroidbox imx6 have court my eye. What are people's opinions? Obviously I'm also very open to suggestions for a box.

If this has been posted in the wrong thread, I apologies in advance but I'm really looking for help.

Thanks
