Hi everyone,

A new version of serverWMC is up. First one in a month!

This version contains new xbmc features, bug fixes, and its biggest change: it supports the new MediaBrowser3-Server live-tv interface.

One of the new xbmc features (importing channel groups) will require a new pvr.wmc addon, which will be out shortly.

Thanks to Scarecrow420 for the new xbmc features and fixes.

Thanks to hoopsdavis for testing and techlife for the wiki.

Windows Media Center PVR add-on (pvr.wmc) and Server (ServerWMC)
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

Nice! Big Grin Is there going to be a changelog? Just curious what all you have been working on. Server keep awake in there? Blush gonna play around with it later.

Change log is on the download page, right below the server link. Server keep-awake is there, let me know if it solves your problem.

FYI, Ive moved Andrew's post reporting stream issues on the new version to it's own thread here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=183804

In general it's better for troubleshooting that each issue (and related issues) has it's own thread. I actually expected the release notifications thread to be updated for the new version, rather than having a new (non sticky) thread anyway Smile

I did update the sticky with the new version. This was a big update though, so I thought more explanation might be good. Feel free to lock this thread if you want (mr moderator)

Just downloaded it and haven't seen any problems so far.

Also been reading a lot of the old threads that outline the history and evolution of Server WMC and found this post (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1435722). I know I read Jeff left the project due his new job but did this ever get implemented into serverWMC? What are the advantages of this? Would we get channel change speeds near as fast as WMC itselfs?

It's before my time on the project but I do know that unfortunately it never had all the kinks worked out but we don't even have the "work in progress" code and Jeff isn't around any longer.

If it worked, it would allow a way to retrieve the actual size of wtv files without waiting for the header to get updated which could either lead to being able to play wtv files directly (which means no remuxing to ts) or at least allow the remuxer to not wait as long before starting. The former would save considerable time from switches, the latter would save a bit. (if you look at your log it shows how long the remux steps take)

ok thanks for the info. All I have to say now is PLEASE PLEASE see if you can get that code from Jeff and get it to work. I love how fast WMC can switch channels but what I love about this addon is that I get to live in one media interface and that is XBMC.

What sort of speed improvements did the proposed code offer? Are we talking near instant of HD channels? Right now I'm using Margo build and I have the same, if not just slightly faster switches as I get in wmc with my ceton infinitv4 pcie. Average change I would say is 5 seconds. I once had a slightly faster change on a different ceton firmware, but it introduced other issues so I rolled back. Once went through an ugly process of trying to rollback a firmware that took days of back and forth with ceton support so now I haven't flashed anything in about a year and a half. To scared to try. It really was a potential/promising angle of research and nothign more than that at this stage. If we didnt have to remux to TS then potentially it saves all of that time (this is different according to different people's setup, the channel being viewed etc). You can check your log to see how much time the remux job takes to get started, typically a few seconds. However even if it was possible to read the size of the WTV etc, it might then require enhancements to be made in XBMC code code/video player/ffmpeg etc which take time and have other considerations and have to work for a wide variety of users/setups. So I guess Im saying that even if we had the information and partial code (which we dont) it is far from any kind of guarantee, it's just a potential avenue to explore. The problem with anonymity and the internet is if someone is no longer participating in a volountary online project, you really have no way to find them without pushing boundaries to an unaccceptable extent
