At first i thought this could be interesting, since i'm in search for a fanless system.
But the more pages I read the more i'm getting the feeling this board isn't quit right.
I haven't read the specs in to depth but does any of these boards have a S/PDIF out, a quick look didn't gave me the impression they do?
Some other questions are already answered on this topic like power on/off with remote, ir possibility.

Edit:
Seems only GIGABYTE is S/PDIF ready.

Yes, I also looked for a SPDIF out and only Gigabyte seems to do that. Note that since HD sound (DTS HD, True HD) now only goes through HDMI, I guess board designers have little reason to keep SPDIF out alive. (only usefull for hifi PCM stereo out, nowdays)

Thanks!!

So how does it perform? Aeon Nox skin no issue? DVD/Blu-Ray playback? 3D? 4K?

Sorry for all the questions Tongue

@ vakya: pastebin.com Link would be better.
Whats your Problem with/in XBMC?
I think your Kernel is too old for this new Hardware, maybe you should use this HowTo http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=165707

Pardon for not put pastebin.com link and pardon for my english.

I try Ubuntu 13.10 without changes. I install last drivers from https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads and it seem works well.

This weekend i will try again.

This bios is the F3 version and it corrects the HDMI problem (you will need to go to advanced settings in the bios and select CSM Support: Enabled and Video: Legacy to get it to work flawlessly).

The problem with booting legacy operating systems (such as a USB stick with OpenElec) also seems to be gone with this bios release (as long as CSM support is enabled and Legacy is selected for storage and boot option).
Run in to some problems with HDMI as well, HDMI is working on my monitor but unfortunately not on my TV Sad

How did you flash the BIOS? The @bios utility of gigabyte is not installing correctly on my system... Is it possible to use the AMI flash utility?

Doesn't GB have an Utility in their bios to flash without OS?
On all other Boards i can copy the Bios File (J180ND2H.F3) to USB Stick and flash direct in their BIOS Utility.

Greats! Genial!
I installed the latest stable version of the kernel in Ubuntu 13.10 the 3.13.6. And the sound works with HDMI very well. The XBMC is perfect, very fast, the browser goes well with Youtube (in linux flash plugin in hd not going well with any computer). But overall very happy and everything working as expected.
If you want to do some testing and this here ask me.

P. D.: Sorry for my english, google translator.
P.D.: I have BIOS version F2.

I join your question, I have not managed to install the BIOS F3.
Nor, I managed to install Windows 8.

I get the feeling that monitors detected not well. My computer told me with the old kernel Ubuntu, that my monitor of 24' was a monitor of 57'.

To update the bios without windows:

1) Download the HP utility to create a bootable DOS USB stick from http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/467...reate.html
2) Follow the instructions to create the stick
3) Download the F3 bios from http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...&dl=1#bios
4) Unpack to the downloaded zip file to the USB stick
5) Boot from the USB stick. You need to enable legacy boot in the bios (found in "CSM Support") and set the correct boot order to boot from the USB stick.

These are all J1800 boards, any news on J1900 ones?

HTPC died last wk, so I just bought a GA-C1037UN (not the passive EU though), reusing 4FB of old HTPC DDR3 mem. Don't have encoded DVD-C working yet (USB tuner, smargo, etc), so needed a PCI for an old dual analogue tuner.

However would still want to use 4Gb of SODIMM on a really low power baytral system.

I managed to install the new F3 bios in the end but unfortunately still no signal on my TV...
Any ideas?

I will probably send the mobo back and buy a AMD A8-6500T, lot more power (45 Watt TDP) but also able to do some casual gaming... no other capable onboard SoC's for sale here in the Netherlands...
