Server WMC delete recordings?
#1
I'm using ServerWMC with the Raspbmc client.

Is it possible to delete a recording from the Raspbmc client?
When I bring up the context menu, there is no option to delete it. Is this capability implemented through ServerWMC?

Thanks

When you say "delete a recording" do you mean delete a single recorded episode of a show, or do you mean deleting the scheduled recording (in XBMC known as a Timer). In either case, yes this is implemented and should work just fine. But you do need to be in the "Recordings" or "Timers" section, you cant do it from the EPG grid for example.

Oh I wonder if perhaps you are context menu clicking on the show folder rather than the recordings inside... We have a stacked view of recordings so that if there are 10 episodes of Big Bang Theory, they dont clog up the list with 10 entries but are stacked under a single show entry for "Big Bang Theory". Perhaps you are trying to context click on that stacked show, rather than going into it to then delete the individual episodes?

I do mean to just delete a single recording after I've watched it, not adjust the series timer.

I go to Live TV -> Recordings then get a list of recordings.
I go through the folder to the list of individual episodes.
I highlight the victim recording and hit the context button.
I see a dialog titled "Recording Information" with the progam name, duration etc.
It only has an "OK" button, while I was hoping to find a Delete button.

I assume this is the proper dialog?

In System Settings -> Appearance -> File Lists I've enabled "Allow file renaming and deletion", and I've rebooted after making that change.
Still no luck.

What skin are you using? Im using the default confluence and arctic and in both cases, I have DELETE in the context menu on a single recording. So weird!

Im sorry, I am at a loss!

I guess you could confirm the exact version of XBMC you are using? Also ServerWMC backend and pvr.wmc addon...

Since it's raspberry pi im not sure. Do you have any other device you can put XBMC on to check? Laptop, desktop, windows, linux, android phone?

I agree, run xbmc on the server machine and see if delete is there. We don't control what comes up on the context menu, my guess is its something special about the xbmc build on your pi.

Wait. I just realized what this is probably due to: I bet you are choosing to 'remux all recordings', due to the inability of the pi player and large wtv files. When you enable this, the pi does not have a path to the wtv file, instead it is playing a remuxed ts file that is built on the fly. Since xbmc is not given a path to the wtv file, its not enabling 'delete'.

The remux option was set in ServerWMC, but even after unsetting it and restarting ServerWMC, I still don't see the delete

Rats. Can you run xbmc on the server machine, just as a sanity test? What is your rpi running?

I just checked Raspbmc running the latest Gotham nightly and delete comes up in the context menu. I have remux checked in ServerWMC. I did not actually delete anything as I don't have anything I don't want, I'll record something later to test delete.

Not trying to poke you or anything like that. I read your post last night and thought for sure that you nailed it, it made sense to me Smile

I know, I just thought it was funny. I thought I nailed it too (usually a bad sign), but when I thought about it later, it wouldn't make much sense for the pvr interface to work that way - it should just trust the backend to resolve the path - and I guess it does.
