Raspbmc crashes every day on live TV
#1
Hello,

I'm having a rather specific problem with my RaspBMC installation rebooting around the same time every day, when viewing live TV through NPVR. I'm running XBMC 12.3 (despite Raspbmc reporting incorrectly that it's 12.2) and the latest NPVR plugin for Frodo.

The problem only happens while watching live TV between the times of about 9:30 and 11:30 PM. Playing movies and TV shows from a networked library works fine, as does playing internet streams such as from the BBC iPlayer.

Initially I suspected that the NPVR server might be to blame, however the logs don't show anything untoward and I've tested several Windows installations of XBMC under the same conditions without issue. The obvious culprit of the EPG being updated is scheduled for 4:00 AM.

I'm wondering if the fact that the crash happens at roughly the same time every day is in fact a coincidence, as this is the time the Raspberry Pi will be working the hardest, and I guess that TV broadcasts take more processing power to decode than my movie collection, which mostly consists of compressed DVD rips.

I've enabled advanced debug logging to try to diagnose the problem, however I can't see any entries in them that aren't also visible throughout the logs. The last 500 kB of a few can be found below. They equate roughly to the last minute and a half before the crashes.

I'd appreciate any advice that might help me fix this one. It's been annoying me for a while.

Cheers,
Jon
