Hello there,
I think I had this issue before, and as I didn't have the time I fixed this issue by deleting the .xbmc in my home folder.
This time, I just moved the .xbmc to check if it solved the issue, and it did. I moved back the folder to it's original name to start analysing the problem.
I thought it may be because of Live TV, but disabling it through editing guisettings.xml didn't solved the issue.
So last night I launched it, and it seemed crashed (unresponsive desktop), but I did't restarted anything and went watching a bluray on another device. This morning, when I woke up, XBMC was finally started, and everything was working perfectly.
Here is a log (with debug) from xbmc start till I press the remote buttons this morning.

I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 on an intel nuc core i3 with 4GB of ram.
