Linux Openelec beta 2 random reboots :(
#1
I'm getting random reboots during movie play Sad and its making me crazy

My system is : Biostar NM70I-847 with intel Celeron 847 / 1.1 GHz ( Dual-Core ) with intel hd graphics

Running openelec intel i386-3.0.6 for a very long time without a single problem

Now since xbmc gotham has gone beta 1 and i updated, im having lots of random reboots as soon as is start movie

Since i thought, the celeron is 64bit capable i first succesfully updated to openelec Generic x86_64 3.95.1

Then problems of random reboot started
Truly unwatchable

Now beta 2 is out, so i thought , maybe it solved! Updated to Generic x86_64 3.95.2
But still problem remains

I've uploaded the log to xbmclogs, but cant seem to find it Sad even i get no email, although its send

So i added it here

I hope someone truly can help to fix this

Thx for your help

(Maybe ill try the 32 bit version)

If your computer really reboots (not just XBMC restarting itself) then you need to log at the system logs.

How do i know if the pc reboots or xbmc restarting?
Its openelec... i only see things from XBMC
But i think its the pc rebooting

How do i log system log then? (with openelec)

Can you please look into for me ?

Old logs having the crash: (after upgrading to gotham beta 1 & 2)

New logs having the crash (after a clean install, problem remains)

Old logs (system, hardware, xbmc logs are in there)

You know your PC reboots if you see the BIOS screen briefly and the Openelec boot logo. If it's just XBMC that restarts you'll get a crosshair in the middle of the screen and XBMC opens at the main menu.

I would suggest removing all your addons and see if it helps. Judging from the logs it's just XBMC that is crashing.

I dont see bios on my tv... It doesnt show picture then yet through hdmi.
Even with 0 addons and clean install i get same problem
Going back to intel based build which is frodo, problem is fixed..
As soon as i go into generic gotham beta build, i get the problems..

Did you ever find the cause of this? I have the same hardware and experiencing reboots after upgrade to Gotham.

OK so a bit more digging found this on the Openelec forum so thought I'd leave it here in case anyone else has the same issue.

I understand nothing techincal about it but the same happened to me. It's something about the new versions of openelec now need a different format appending in the file to fix it.

This thread explains it: http://openelec.tv/forum/64-installation...-nm70i-847

Short version: Append "i915.enable_rc6=0" to extlinux.conf instead of what you appended last time and that then performs the same fix as before.

It's been working for me again since.

I usedthis to the append line:

i915.i915_enable_rc6=0

Isnt that the same?

Or should i use it shorter now?

I915_enable_rc6=0

Neither - Use what I put in the quotes above instead of what you previously had.

Oops now i see the difference!
Its .enable instead of _enable

Gonna try. Thx already
