Can anyone help me with this issue? My XBMC just started crashing on startup. This just started happening for no apparent reason. I did not download any updates since the last time I used XBMC two days ago, but now it will not start. I tried deleting all of my user data and doing a fresh installation of XBMC, but I am still having the same problem. I have an Intel graphics card, so I know this is not related to the issue with AMD graphics cards. Here is my crash log.

I figured out the issue with the help of the following post.

My issue was with the PrimeWire add on. I disabled my network connection, then was able to start XBMC without any issue. Since then, I have been able to restart XBMC several times with my network connection enabled without any issue.

Hello all I'm using Mint 16 which is basef on ubuntu. I turned on xbmc today thinking but it crashed over and over I did a complete reinstallation but felt it must be something else.
I followed the tip with stopping net connection start start xbmc and can confirm it works like that however when you complete a task or change screen to full instead of window xbmc crashes.
Will try removing primewire in the morning.
I must add that I am new to linux and have just started to learn what it is about so deleteting files or such is not easy for me. I will try though

Your issue is probably the same issue as most of us are having on our Linux machines with XBMC the past 24 hours.

While the original post here's crash log seems different than the others (from a quick glance), the majority of the trouble is caused by how Linux's XBMC is handling its repository check at startup with repos housed on Github. Github changed something last night and ever since XBMC doesn't like it and crashes. Now, only Linux's version of XBMC actually crashes. Seems Windows doesn't crash, but will not allow for updating or installing from Github repos.

A workaround for now is to simply remove the repos from the equation. You can just copy them to a new folder and wait for a fix. At least you will be able to use XBMC.

Sure, glad to help. The biggest thing to remember is its not anything we did. That is often the first thing I worry about when something such as this happens. Thus, nothing to figure out.

Actually, if you look at this thread, it sounds as if the root cause is figured out. Now it seems the solution is for the repos that use Github to change themselves. I've already noticed two of the 22 I have that have fixed themselves today alone. Time will tell.

I guess so xbmcwayist just figured out how to delete some repos using maintanence tool. But xbmc then froze on exit not sure why. Now attempting to load Xbmc with net on.
Edit xbnc still crashing.
