what about creating plugin to control an external lcd display allowing you to view whats on xbmp or xbmc without having to have the tv on.

i guess this could be run from a usb port with a serial adapter converter unless a usb smartie exists

details here: http://backupteam.gamepoint.net/smartie/

what do you think?

i'll buy the lcd for the developer - if you can recommend the one - i would perfer to use the one attached (in the pic) as it is brighter.

even simpler than this setup is to use the hip kat console monitor for xbox. it was 50 usd at compusa and has a small 2 inch lcd screen mounted on a standard xbox controller so that you can play games etc with the screen directly on your controller. pretty cool.

i know from the faq that there are two chips out there that support lcd panels. this is cool. however, i noticed that companies like http://www.crystalfontz.com and http://www.matrixorbital.com have lcd and vfd panels anywhere from 2x16 to actual graphic screens that have usb support!

i know it is asking a lot, but, since the controller ports are in fact usb maybe a driver to interface to those usb displays? i think a vfd 1x16 or 2x16 panel on an xbox case, where the dolbydigital is stamped in would be very cool and simple.
