Linux Can't install XBMC
#1
Hi,

I was having some issues with my XBMC when my repositorys were in the main folder XBMC would start and then close. I then moved the repos in to a folder called repos and it would open and work but couldn't use those repos. I tried to upgrade to Gotham ppa:team-xbmc/xbmc-nightly. I have installed XBMC previously but was using the stable version. but when it came to installing XBMC it comes up with;

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xbmc: Depends: xbmc-bin (>= 4:12.3.1-dmo1) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xbmc-data (>= 4:12.3.1-dmo1)
xbmc-standalone : Depends: xbmc-data (>= 4:12.3.1-dmo1)

E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I tried to then install the stable version again but the same error comes up. I have also run autoremove to try and remove these broken packages...

Does anybody know how to fix this issue? I have a friend who is quite XBMC and linux savy and he is also stumped.

yes, use ubuntu with the unstable or nightly ppa.
You are most probably running debian with builds not done by us, so report your issue there. dmo points to debian-multimedia.
