Hi just upgraded my box Amlogic m8 quad core to latest xbmc 13. Downloaded today so all latest updates included.

When I start playing something, sound starts ok but no video is displayed on screen.

Thanks mate, Never imagined I would be brushing up my linux at 1am.

I saw your post in a previous thread was not sure it was this quick.

I assume that this would need to be done every time I flash the box unless I advice supplier to do it.

Hello Davilla, I have the same boxes, and when try to locate that path /dev/am* its not found, the box is rooted, and i will also try to contact the supplier.

What's the output when you type the following:

chmod 666 /dev/am*

ls -l /dev/am*

I have tried Gotham 13 and 13.1 on my M8 AMLogic S802. Once you start a video it boots you out off XBMC. Would that firmware be different?

There must be a lot of M8 users wanting to upgrade from Gotham 13.0RC1 (Stock) to 13.1 final because of obvious reasons.

WHo has their set working, and what M8 firmware are you using in combination with G13.1?

I am using Finless 1.6 Rom right now but have used everyone that was released to test. If you disable AmCodec and MediaCodec and only leave LibStageFright enabled in HW Acceleration setting then Gotham 13.1 appears to work fine.

This is the same as not using any hardware acceleration for an amlogic box (so you're only doing software decoding). MediaCodec and libstagefight don't work on amlogic hardware.
