OS X XBMC uses audio channel 1 and 2 only while configured to use 5 and 6
#1
Hi,

I am using a Mac Mini late 2012 with a Native Instruments Audio 6 sound card. The Mac speaker configuration (Audio Midi Setup) is set to play stereo on this device on channel 5 and 6 of the sound card. While all applications I tested (VLC, Chome Browser, Spotify, iTunes etc.) do use these channels XBMC uses 1 and 2 only. I tried changing XBMC audio settings but nothing helps

I have also created an aggregated device in the Audio Midi Setup that only uses channel 5 and 6 of the soundcard, still XBMC finds its way around that to channel 1 and 2.

Versions of XBMC tested: 12.3 32bit 12.3 64bit, 13.0

Thanks,
Robert

Thanks for the quick reply. This version is not able to produce any sound through the Traktor Audio 6 at all. Only when I set XBMC to use Mac's built in device I get audio

Done, this one uses channel 1 and 2 only as described in the original post.

Thanks!

have you set xbmc to speaker config 2.0? And also disabled LPCM (which is a setting in frodo only though). You can go back to frodo - the testbuild i provided you is not for your issue (i missinterpreted your report).

With the versions I tested before the initial post, I tried 2.0, 2.1, 5.1. Please note that the sound card has 6 channels out.

With the later versions you sent me, I tested 2.0 only (I think).

I will try the Frodo the disabled LPCM this evening. Which Frodo should I be using, 32bit or 64 bit?

To disable LPCM I have to select Audio Output HDMI, while the output is not. I can however select the Traktor Audio 6 as audio device.
When I select analog, it is automatically disabled.

But this all does not help, all audio goes to channel 1 and 2.

Also if this build doesn't work (and if it works too) - please try this afterwards in any case:

Would this fix also apply to the issue when playing back 5.1 LPCM over HDMI for non AC3/DTS formats such as 5.1 FLAC or 5.1 AAC where passthrough is not an option?
