I'm running the latest stable version of Ubuntu, 14. I upgraded from 13. When i do this:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

I get this:

It looks like you pinned an old version. The command wsnipex gave will tell us whether that is the case.
