Interesting! Alone without XBMC their boxes have a decent following.

Hardware isn't capable of running XBMC. WDTV Live has a Sigma Designs chip circa 2010 that has no GPU, good video decoders but thats about it.
I'm surprised WD haven't already done something like Pivos with Tofu or Amazon with FireTV, that platform they are still clinging to is a dead end.
Edit: There appears to be a new 2014 WDTV but from what I can make out it's almost identical to the previous model with no Netflix support, bizarre move by WD maybe they are trying shift left over inventory ? that or it's a knee-jerk reaction to the FireTV kicking their ass, which everyone saw coming the moment something like an AppleTV with an app store came about, the no-name Android XBMC boxes were all ready doing damage to the market they once served, big name like Amazon only sped things along.
