RPi OpenElec 4.0.4 XBMC 13.1 is marvelous media-center, but it seems that pure, full DVD movies in .iso format used either via NFS or SMB share are tend not to work good. DVD movie’s Menu selection and other can be really painful and often user cannot make the movie even start.
Default OMXPlayer can play DVD movies fluently, but cannot work with menus. DVDPlayer on the other hand is vice versa.
Now there is workaround!
1. Start to watch your movie with “Play using: DVDPlayer”. This comes with ContextMenu on top of the movie i.e. right mouse click.
2. Start the movie normally via DVD menus. Subtitle and audio selection are no concern, can be changed later.
3. When movie is playing, probably jumping and stuttering, skip forward… go to 50min for instance!
4. STOP the movie. Xbmc will write a marker here.
5. Start the movie now with default player, OMXplayer and XBMC will ask “continue from 50min?”. YES.
6. Now the movie is playing from the middle fluently. Skip to 00:00:00 and movie plays beautiful from the beginning with the possibility to change subs and audio normally via OSD menu...
ofcource you need MPEG2 licence for this.
