XBMC needs some runtimes installed so it not a true portable application that can be copied and pasted between locations. Run the installer on the PC and then delete the installation and you then maybe ok, not something I've tried though.

So, install XBMC the normal way, then deinstall the XBMC installation? And then the portable XBMC should run? Did I understand it right?
Could I install those runtimes (whatever it is) manually?

Yeah that's right but I've not ever tried it, however it's the runtimes I suspect you're missing, I can't remember the runtimes off top of head but installer lists them as they can be deselected, DirectX is certainly one.

Btw, easiest solution is probably to always use installer then copy Portable_Data folder between PC's.
