based on the thread you linked, that change was merged so it should be there. So you have setup keymapping for your record button on remote to do the record action in XBMC? And confirmed that this mapping works? But when you press it on an EPG item nothing happens?

Im confused by your answer... have you successfully mapped your remote button to the XBMC record command? It sounds like no. If you haven't, then of course pressing it on an EPG entry wont do anything?
What remote are you using? Post your keymap.xml file?

Sorry - yes, I have mapped the record button to XBMC record function, but it wont work when you are in EPG Timeline and push the record button.

OK, but it does work in other cases - eg when you are watching a live channel and you press "record" to do an instant recording?
If that's the case then sounds like you should post in the thread you linked, since you can prove you have the record action correctly mapped, but it doesnt seem to do anything on a EPG entry

yeah under Frodo there was a workaround mapping using "XBMC.PlayerControl(Record)" which only worked when watching a channel (ie the XBMC player was active).
In Gotham there is a new "Record" mapping that performs Record action contextually (EPG entry, live channel, whatever). Perhaps you didn't update your keymap when moving to Gotham?

Got it figured out. I needed to load the add-on MCE Remote and the KeyMapping add-on. Once I activated the MCE Remote add-on, key mapping started to work for me, now I have my Harmony remote record button working with the EPG Timeline.
I also added in my advancedsetting.xml to improve my skipping function to match WMC and reduce the amount of past EPG for quicker EPG timeline load up time.

<smallstepbackseconds>5</smallstepbackseconds>
<timeseekforward>15</timeseekforward>
<timeseekbackward>-7</timeseekbackward>
<timeseekforwardbig>60</timeseekforwardbig>
<timeseekbackwardbig>-60</timeseekbackwardbig>
<percentseekforward>1</percentseekforward>
<percentseekbackward>-3</percentseekbackward>
<percentseekforwardbig>20</percentseekforwardbig>
<percentseekbackwardbig>-20</percentseekbackwardbig>
</video>
<epg>
<lingertime>30</lingertime>
</epg>
</advancedsettings>
My device is:
Zotac CI320 ($99) with 4MB Ram ($30) and a 120 SSD.($45)
I use a airmouse ($25) and a Harmony 300 remote ($20). I prefer the Harmony Remote to give me a true PVR feel on a 90 inch TV.

glad to hear that it's working!
Out of interest, did you make any changes in the MCE Remote mapping addon or just the default setup was OK? What device (manufacturer/model number) do you have your Harmony configured to use?

I installed the MCE Remote and set "apply windows default settings to remote"..no other tweaks needed. In the add-on Keymap editor, I needed to map the skip button to the small step forward, and skip back button to the small step back in the global section and full screen section. I also had to in the PVR section map the record button. Then I added my advancesetting.xml settings, then restart XBMC.
I have my Harmony 300 (no back lighting) and my Harmony 600 remote (with back lighting) set to Microsoft, choose device as "Media Center PC". I had to reset my volume up/down to only function with the TV/Stereo.
It functions perfectly. I now have this setup working on Kodi 14 alpha 3.
I tried using Amazon FTV, but I couldn't get the performance and tweaking that I am getting with the Zotac CI320....I leave the Zotac CI320 on 24/7 and just need to turn on the TV and its ready to go. I have the CI320, set to reboot every 3 days at 4am.
This wouldn't be an option, if it wasn't for your hard work with the WMCServer app. This setup is soooo much better/quicker than my Xbox 360 extender. The Xbox 360 wont handle 200+ movie library without freezing and/or running slow to recall the stored movies/shows.
