Linux Question about Volume Control using IR Remote
#1
Hi,

I have purchased an IR remote. The interface is USB and its detected as

a keyboard. Although labeled as a Windows product it works out of the box

in XBMC and other apps like VLC.

I watch movies using a wireless headphone and the audio of some movies

are so compressed that I need to open Pavucontrol and drag the volume bar

to 153% which is the max available.

But as soon as I press the volume key of my remote or the +/- key of my

keyboard the Volume reverts back to 100%.

Pressing the keyboard's + key or the remote's Vol up key only increases

the volume up to 100 %.

Under VLC I have assigned the up/down arrow keys for volume control.

So when I press the up/down arrow key on my keyboard VLC's volume

changes and when I press the volume +/- key on my remote the main

(pulseaudio) volume changes.

Pressing the Up arrow key makes it go up to the max that is 153 %.

Is there a way to do the same thing under XBMC ?

No. I clamp the xbmc's volume at 100% - if you want to control pulseaudio volume directly, you need global shortcuts.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
