Help Building Home Theater PC
#1
Ok so i been using xbmc on my ATV2 but lately i wanted to upgrade for better quality and less buffering. Even though it has improved lately.

So i am looking for help and hardware opinions. I am not that great at pc's so thats why starting this thread and any help would help.

1.This is what i want to start with: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.ph...53&area=en
2.This is what i think i need for audio card: http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sou...-pcie.aspx
3. This for motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P7P55D/
4. This for video card: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GDDR5-2GB...138&sr=1-5

I am trying to set up multi room audio also.
meaning one room can watch regular tv for example sound will get processed through computer and in to surtain speakers of my choice.
then the pc can stream XBMC on another tv.Or being able to stream XBMC on both tv's with sound in all 2 rooms.
2 room audio controlling.

Also do i really need a crazy video card? I will be watching 3D movies.
Also wanted to get blue tooth build in also.

also debating between i7 or an AMD cpu.

Also any other ideas that anyone can think of would help that i missed.

No, you need two PC's, one for each TV.

I seen programs online that supposedly control multi room audio. So i though some way it has to be possible.

Why would you want to have the audio from your movie play in another room?

If you want to show the same movie in 2 rooms, get an HDMI splitter and run a cable to the other room.

I am looking for all in one i know there are dual graphic cards out there so that will do the dual tv's but the audio is what i am having problems with. I seen forms that windows XP you can do that. Maybe with 2 audio cards or something i think there is a way. Just need help plus some other hardware info would be nice.

Frankly I think you are totally crazy doing it that way, but of course every HDMI video card (except quite old ones) are also a sound card.

Windows XP is not supported by xbmc.

You also need to consider how to control the computer from the remote TV.

that case is controlled by remote also a blue tooth built in will help me with a logistic mini keyboard. there is a dual video cards out there so the video i dont think is a problem. The audio is hard to understand. But if this works one box can do everything for 2 tv's. Gaming, blueray, cable, xbmc and with a bluetooth controller can be controlled from any room.

So personaly i think a great investment. Already have 2 ATV's now works fine i guess but want to improve.

when i look at my shelve above my tv i see too much crap i want to have just one thing that can control both rooms. And with the spare room that i will get thanks to that i can put up some pictures Smile

If i figure out the audio i can take my ps3, wii, blueray, cable box, and ATV off the shelve.

The audio goes over the same HDMI cable as the video.

So you have one amp serving both rooms with some sort of multiroom functionality?

Ok well run the HDMI to the remote room and into the amp, then amp to TV.

I think what your trying to say is hdmi to tv then audio out from tv to amp and to speakers...
that means in order for those speakers to work in that room the tv must be on? Because that tv needs to pass the sound through.. Which i dont always want both tv's on.
Its one way of doing it but i want to be able to be able to control through pc not turn on a bunch of devices to get what i want. I have seen this Audio card and by the looks of it, it might have 2 audio outputs one for surround and the other is i forgot what it is called but not sure if they can be controlled.
