Win 3840x2160 & DTS-HD passthrough
#1
My HTPC is running 3840x2160 60p (GTX 970) HDMI 2.0 direct to Samsung 4k tv (2014) and on board HDMI (Intel HD Audio) to Denon AVR 4520CI.
At desktop AVR shows multichannel 7.1. As soon as I open Kodi, AVR drops to 2 channel stereo. When I play a movie AVR indicates multichannel but won't show DTS-HD. Anyway to get 4k video w/DTS-HD pass through?

I have WASAPI HDMI (Intel) selected in Kodi for both outputs, pass through, DTS-HD & TrueHD ticked.

Thanks for your help!

When I began ripping 3840x2160, I was only getting DTS and not DTS-HD because settings were off in my rip software. I found the error by checking my rip properties using a desktop player such as MPCHC before suspecting Kodi. You should double check your rip regardless of what your A/V shows. Are you running 1 HDMI for video and another for audio?

You need to put your debug log into pastebin and post the URL here instead of the entire log.

Make sure to enable passthrough (Avanced settings hierarchies) and choose the above Wasapi output for that device.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I have tried every combo Wasapi both outputs, hdmi both outputs and direct both outputs. When Kodi loads it throws the AVR into Stereo 2 channel from 7.1 multichannel on desktop. Passthrough is ticked.

New log posted. Wasapi selected for both outputs. Still no DTS-HD passthrough, only multichannel in is displayed on the AVR. Please advise.

Ok I can see you have the correct device selected as WASAPI - Denon, and I can see that Kodi attempts to open the device for passthrough however it fails and the reason is not clear to me.

Could you post a screenshot of all your audio settings please.

Sorry, but a little bit off topic...

I was not aware of any commercially available 4k movies. Just curious to know what content you have and where you obtain it from.

The articles I read tells me there is nothing out there, and that HDMI cannot handle 4k and a feature length 4k movie wouldn't even fit on a blu Ray capacity disk. Just wondering how you and others are getting around these limitations.

Does it work if you enable dts capable receiver in addition?

That appears to have been the problem! Enabling "dts capable" in addition to, solved the problem. Thanks!
