I'm sure this would be simple to implement... if the network is not connected, don't perform CDDB lookups, etc. Okay, I know I can just go into the settings and switch Internet Lookups off, but if the machine didn't bother trying when the net's not plugged in, it would be nice.

Kind of along the same lines:
My Qwest-supplied Actiontec DSL Modem occasionally blocks my Xboxes (xboxen?) from the Internet. It would be better if, say during IMDB lookups, it would say "IMDB Unreachable" as oppsed to going into an endless loop of "Enter Movie Name" and forcing me to figure out what's wrong.
