I know Kodi no longer supports Windows XP.

I have Kodi on my laptop - love it!

At the moment, I can't update my hardware specs. Any suggestions? Any similar media center like Kodi that I can use?

That model appears to support Windows 7 and 8. Is there a reason you're staying with a 14 year old operating system?

Can the processor, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz run windows 7?
Though they say it's 2 cores, it's a single core.

I've got a buddy in the same boat, still running an old XP system. He continues to run it because of legacy software he owns is not compatible with new systems and he doesn't want to spend the mega bucks to update and he thinks the new o/s call home too much and he doesn't agree with the the licenses terms.

I'll bet XBMC 12 would work fine, last version that still had XP support was XBMC 13

I only did a quick Google search, but there are links to Windows 7/8 drivers for your model.

I would be looking at running something light like openelec, although I am unsure if the Intel g41 will be decent for media in any operating system. You can run openelec live from a USB flash to check it out.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

EDIT

Kodi works great!
However, no sound from pc. I can't find any audio driver for windows 7 Sad
Still looking....

EDIT 2

For some reason I'm not getting any sound from my machine with Windows 7. Drivers are installed, but no sound. Going back to Windows XP.

According to MSI site this board has VIA audio. Try these drivers, one of them will probably work:
