I just hooked up my Cable Set Top Box to my PC and I am having a huge pain getting it configured with Windows media Player but I do see that the connection is physically working and I get audio and video in the Windows Media Player configuration screen but that is about it. Window Media Player just sucks!

Can I watch Live TV with Kodi or is there another Program that would work better on a Windows PC with my Cable Box?

Kodi can act as a "front-end" to various TV/PVR programs, including Windows Media Player. Check out PVR (wiki). The instructions aren't great, but it will at least point you in the right direction.

I prefer to stay away from Media Player as the Front or Back End for Live TV. I take it that Kodi would be a good Front End but is there a Back End other than media Player that you would recommend?
