I am new to Kodi (from WMC) and looking for the best way to send popup messages to my Kodi clients?

I found some threads on this, but many refer to older methods no longer in-use.

Seems the JSON may be the way to go, but not sure if that is the correct way? I didn't see any add-ons for this purpose either, so I hope someone can lead me in the right direction or provide an example.

Simple put, I have a Home automation system. When I do something like open the garage door, I want to be able to send a braodcast message to all my Kodi clients.

Answered my question. Not sure on all version of Kodi, but for Helix...

1. Go to settings/network/Webserver.
2. Enable 'Allow control of Kodi via HTTP'.
3. Set port - I just left it at port 80.

From a web browser, enter this to test (change IP address to your Kodi client):

http://192.168.1.100/jsonrpc?request={%2...%22id%22:1}

You should get a popup message along top of screen for a few seconds.
