Amazon 2nd Gen PVR/Live TV Recording

Thumbs Up
Hello Everyone,
This is my first posting here, so please be gentle... Smile I am an old android guy, and have begun to get more involved in the Kodi universe as of late. I'm happy with both the 2nd gen box as well as the fire stick, but I'm looking for options for recording in general, and particularly local news. I've messed with the ota hd antennas, but with little to no luck, primarily due to my home's location and signal strength.
Does anyone know of the best way for me to record with the fire tv box, my hope is that the microSD card slot could double as memory for recording, but can't seem to find clarity surrounding that online. Any help is greatly appreciated, as is your time...

Thank you

To record you need a PVR backend. I am unaware of any that run on Android. (Note, the PVR backend is a separate piece of software from the Kodi add-on for that backend.)

That is correct. There is not yet any http://kodi.wiki/view/PVR_backend that supports recording and runs nativly on Android OS, or at least not any that have a http://kodi.wiki/view/PVR client addon for Kodi so far.

Read more on Kodi wiki here http://kodi.wiki/view/PVR and here http://kodi.wiki/view/PVR_backend

One of the best workarounds right now is to buy a Raspberry Pi 2 and direct attach USB TV-tuners to, install Linux OS on it and a PVR backend (tuning and server application) that can then connect to your Android device over the network.

You can find lists of Linux compatible USB TV-tuners on linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Ha...nformation

Simplest solution is just to install OpenELEC (simple embedded Linux OS with Kodi bundled) on the Raspberry Pi 2 as it comes with the two most popular PVR backends; Tvheadend and VDR. Suggest that you get either Tvheadend or VDR working locally with Kodi on the Raspberry Pi 2 first and then you can try to connect your Android device over the network.
