Multiple YouTube Addons have come and gone. This includes Bromix, since he stopped maintaining it.
So what would be the possibility of integrating youtube search and video playback right within XBMC interface (Kodi and all future revisions)? We can all agree that youtube is an important part of XBMC. Would this be possible?

That would be horrible. If anything broke then you would have to wait for a full Kodi update to fix it. That's the entire reason add-ons became a thing. Remember when scrapers weren't add-ons?

Same goes with an add-on that gets abandoned.

Full Kodi update takes ~ 1 year between releases.
Addon can be picked up by someone else in a couple of days , and pushed to the repo a week later .
Addons can be picked up by 3rd party independent developers , that are not from the Kodi Dev Team. Youtube integrated into Kodi would mean that somebody from the Team maintains it, if resources are available => less chance that someone picks it up and does it.
