Android HEVC hardware decoding question
#1
According to http://kodi.wiki/view/Android_hardware, the snapdragon 805 does not support HEVC hardware decoding, but according to its spec (https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdr...essors/805) it should. Is it that kodi doesn't support it, or is the wiki out of date or something?

I was considering purchasing the Nexus 6, partly because it had HEVC hardware decoding with the snapdragon 805. Now I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any experience with the Nexus 6 a and kodi + hevc playback? What about the Nexus 6P (snapdragon 810 which is listed as supported)?

Thanks.

I have no experience with snapdragon hardware, but on rockchip it seems to be working.

The wiki may be out of date, but just because a manufacturer says hevc (or any other decoder) is included in their chipset, doesn't mean that they have followed the android api specs so that kodi can use it.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

How can I find out if a particular chipset will hardware decode HEVC in kodi then? Test and see basically?
