Currently, due to technical limitations (dynamic file paths) UPnP file sources can't be scanned into the local library. However, since many UPnP servers can provide metadata as well as the files themselves, then this may not be an issue.

Not wanting to flog a dead horse here, but, Is this on any feature list? I know this is technically a short-coming with the way Kodi works, so just genuinely interested if it's not/likely/planned/going to happen

On a theoretical point, I wonder also, if this doesn't work with movies, how does it work with music? I'm guessing by ID tags. Are there not equivalent ID tags with video files?

[edit] correction, music doesn't scan to the local library either, but with tagging, why can't this happen?

So, it would be a case of coding new scrapers, I suppose - something way out of my league.

Though, I would still be interested in any feedback on this issue.

To consolidate my thoughts then, are there any scrapers that use ID tags for library scraping? Or does that still not remove the issue of dynamic file paths for Kodi?
