Embedded libass subtitles no longer seem to work for me. This issue started happening a couple of days ago.

I'm on Arch Linux, Kodi 17.1. Neither the libass or kodi packages were updated in that time [libass last update was 20 March, Kodi before that]

In the logs, I'll get output like this if I load SRT subs:

For ASS subs I don't get anything like it. Suggestions?

Found this is log: ERROR: Unable to load libass.so.5, reason: libass.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Solved it by linking /usr/lib/libsass.so.9 to /usr/lib/libsass.so.5. Works flawlessly now.

Next time you bump arch dependencies, make sure to also transition the software that needed / was configured with the old version.

I think I answered this question 5 times on IRC today, all of them Arch - I bump what I can - users. So please spread that gospel ...
