Some say I can and others that I can't so can someone give a definitive answer please?
For a start I find trying to find out exactly what Apple TV I have. The number in the supplied manual is 532/3249 Apple TV
The Version from the menu is as the attached picture taken from the menu
If I can install it, could you give me a good link with instructions please?

Model a1469 is an appletv3 and you can't install kodi on that one. Whoever told you so is wrong.
