[split] Using SMB:// for access to shares
#1
I've also been having similar problems and I am just wondering why Kodi doesn't implement SMBv2/3.   Is there some drawback or is it just not top of the todo list?  A lot of people must be trying to access files on a Windows based machine I would imagine so keeping up with M$FT's machinations would seem to be a sensible thing to do.

I'm using Android and if I install AndSMB, add a share and set protocol to SMBv2/3 it works fine so I assume the same thing could work with Kodi.

There is a new addon that implements smb2/3 that is currently being tested in the Windows UWP v18 alpha builds for Xbox and Windows Store. Once it is deemed to be of being acceptable quality that it will most likely replace the current smb1 implementation on all non-Windows platforms.
