Hi, looking at buying some hardware. Would anyone know if these are ok to install LibreELEC and watch videos at 1080p?

Some 10bit 1080p HEVC encoded videos might struggle due to having to be CPU software decoded. Otherwise great for everything else 1080p LE.

The Chromebox guys will know more about the capabilities of the Intel Celeron 2957U for such decoding.

Cheap ARM - AMLogic S9xx devices these days are quite a bit more powerful for Hardware video decoding of virtually anything when using LibreELEC.

that's correct, you'd want a Core i3 Haswell-U to safely handle 1080p HEVC in software. Though the Celeron 2957U will still run circles around any ARM box CPU-wise, meaning much better handing of "heavy" skins. Tradeoffs everywhere Smile

hay those boxes on ebay are mine.  I could do you a deal if you wanted them both.  Anyways as this is not a site for sales I'll just stick to the facts.

Video wise they do 1080p almost everything even my 100Mbs jelly fish video without breaking a sweat. 50hz and 60 hz 1080p interlaced Live TV and 24p for movies.

Audio wise they DTS, Dolby 5.1 etc etc

They do libreELEC perfectly.

They do Windows 10.

and the menus are buttery smooth.

These are way better than any android boxes.
