Solved Studio Icons White cannot be updated
#1
Hi all,

I'm using Kodi 18.2 on Windows 10 with the Aeon MQ8 skin.

A few days ago Kodi showed in on startup the information, that the addon Studio Icons White need to be updated. After conforming, the addon is downloaded and Kodi shows the error "update failed".

This happends over and over again: on startup, when browsing through menu or after ending video playback. It's getting me nuts!

Same error when trying to update the addon in the preferences menu. Other addons update just fine. Also tried to uninstall, but is seems to be an system addon.

I noticed this lines in the log:

Any ideas how to fix this?

My Kodi installation is several years old, but not tweaked oder altered in any way.

Thanks for help!

A proper debug log would help with that and more. Snippets in isolation are not much help. The file addons\resource.images.studios.white is the target folder. "An unreleased information object was encountered" is usually some web or networking call that hasn't returned, generally not critical.

I made a new debug log and uploaded it here:
https://paste.kodi.tv/ripagunumu.kodi

Just noticed that today I had to manually search for addon updates to reproduce this error. May be related to the update from 18.1 to 18.2 I made yesterday.

I don't have this folder in my kodi directory.

Some sort of problem with the copy/renaming of that file on download prior to install. Suggestion: grab it directly using your browser to download from https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/leia/reso...0.0.21.zip and install via zip in settings. Hopefully this bug will work it'self out soon.

BTW: Your log shows you have this  ADDON: resource.images.studios.white v0.0.19 installed

I've had that addon fail to update in the past and ended up with a bad Addons27 database.  If you check your userdata I bet you have several copies of the update sitting in GUID-named subfolders in the addons/temp.  IIRC I had to completely uninstall the addon then install it again to fix it.  You might need to disable MQ8 first if that addon is an MQ8 dependency.

Aeon MQ8 don´t have any add-on dependencies. All are installed by the user on demand when necessary.

Sorted it out by uninstalling all skins except MQ8, switching to default skin and searching for addon updates in the gui. Kodi downloaded and installed the update for Studio Icons White fine.

I tried the same procedure with 18.1 a few days ago and it didn't work. Strange thing! Will keep an eye on addon updates in the next weeks to be sure everything is okay.

Glad it worked that way. A big thanks for help everybody!
