Have we figured anything out about this? I'm switching my Media box hardware in to my desktop, tuner, hard drive, etc. For college, so I can have a single system. I didn't even notice this bug until I started having to start and shut it down often (being on a desktop machine).

Is there some form of patch floating in the etherwebs I could apply? Even if not tested fully for regressions, it would be amazingly helpful.
