I had a system failure recently and need to reconstitute my Kodi setup. I can't for the life of me recall or find how to set the main menu weather background to one of the contextual weather image collections from the Kodi repository. The collection doesn't show up in the 'select background' list. Other instructional sites only cover how to install the collections as addons, not how to apply them to the background of your weather main menu item.

Skin settings > Customization > Set Weather background.



After you select one it will then appear as an option for the Main Menu backgrounds.

Alternatively can also select background in side menu of Weather section.
