Hey all, as stated in the title i have a eHome Infrared Transceiver w/gateway MCE Remote that i can not get installed on XP Home for use with XBMC. When the PC detects the unit, the driver prompt pops up and i tell it to find the drivers online and it cant. I understand this is due to the fact my XP is a Home edition. I want to use home due to the fact it runs smoother than MCE. I also know the main drivers for it are in MCE rollup 1 and or 2, and with out MCE u cant normal get them. I just want to use the remote for XBMC any help will be eternally grateful!!

Hello, IF XBMC is supposed to be able to use a MCE remote how would you get it to work on a computer that isn't a MCE unit? People have to know some were!

Thanks, Viper

Well, i used the same little SITE and got garbage. But, Thank you for the link, I do appreciate it. Also, the Gate Way remote i have is nearly identical to the Xbox MCE remote, will i have to re map the functions? If so o well, but i nee to learn that now. LOL

Well, the link would have been helpful if i didn't need to buy a $50 program just to make the receiver work. Come on people, this cant be an issue that no one has ever had, I just need to know how to get it to work. Thanks for any help.

Try "IR Server Suit" and "EventGhost", browse and search this forum for more information about them, ...or google

I Could be u have a Philips remote, the new edition is Vista only.
And unfortunately there is still now way to get it working on xp.
So check the remote, if u have an other device check the green button forum for replacement drivers or use HIP to control XBMC.

As Lament Configuration has stated, the Philips remote (newer VMC style), is not supported in XP. (At least no matter what I tried.). I even modified the inf in the driver to reflect the device/PID of my *USB device in device manager, but still no luck....

I still need the pc to recognize the IR Receiver, IE Drivers. The remote and receiver are from a Gateway MCE 2005 setup, brother-in-laws that dosent use mce. On the bottom of the receiver is: SMK branding, as before getting the pc to recognize this unit in XP Home environment is becoming a pain in the A.....

Gamester17: Thanks for some attention, i will use the programs, when the pc detects the unit, we all know Devs are busy so thanks for the attention.

yeah XP Home doesn't have any drivers for MCE devices, try this: http://tech.nztechie.com/2008/03/media-c...r-for.html
