Transitioning to XBMC from MythBuntu
#1
Thanks for reading this thread, I am transitioning from Mythbuntu to XBMC. I have been a myth user for a couple years now, yet I am getting frustrated with the lack of development in the UI.

My questions for this community are:

Does XMBC support PCHDTV cards, or Haugpaugge PVR-150 cards for recording live OTA TV?
Does it support the Schedule Direct TV feed (or is there a subscription-less feed available for XBMC)?
How does XBMC work if you want multiple front-ends? I am assuming you just need the recordings to be either samba shares or on a NAS.

And for my newbie question of the day... how do you get XBMC to load in fullscreen?

Thanks... and look forward to your replies.

PS. The manual is really useful. DS

XBMC does not yet have any PVR recording or Live TV capabilities of its own, therefor you will need to use a third-party server (like MythTV backend) to take care of that part and only use XBMC as the frontend (client).

Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

ok, just a quick reply...
xbmc doesn't have any backend by itself, it relies on mythtv (for now) or maybe other (see the gsoc project) backends to show live tv

so you will still need the mythbackend to be running to see any live-tv, that's why there is no 'direct' support for any tv card, as it must be supported by nythbackend to show any picture

for the epg and scheduledirect part, that's too a work in progress, in the gsoc too

for the last question, all you have to do is go in settings/appearance/screen and set it to fullscreen

bye and welcome to xbmc Smile

Thanks for the quick responses... I have skimmed (my bad) through the wiki, as I was initial having issues with reading my MythTV samba share where all my DVD's are. But switching to SVN resolved this.

I will look at those threads about reading the MythTV backend, which should be find as long as I can find a plug-in that creates/maintains the scheduling and deletion of recordings.

Many thanks...
