I have no problem playing DVDs using an USB thumb drive but they don't work over my network. Is this a common problem?

Kodi's UPnP only does those videos that are scraped into the video library. Is that the case with your TS folder(s)?

I can see the folder but it doesn't play like it does when they do if I use the USB port. Here's the error message:
